FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Hardwood Floor Resurfacing?

With our resurfacing service, we gently sand away any light scratches, scuffs, ground-in dirt, and dullness to restore your floors to their original brilliance. It does not affect the color of the wood (other than brightening) and does not extensively sand away precious wood surfaces. This process can be used on any type of wood and is also our most cost-effective service. It starts at only 99¢ per square foot. Most projects can be completed in hours, rather than days.

What is Hardwood Floor Refinishing?
Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining (with the color of your choice) and applying polyurethane. If you prefer oil-based polyurethane, we will apply 2 coats and lightly sand between coats. With water-based poly, 3 coats are used with light sanding between coats 1 and 2 and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Of course we “tack” (clean the dust) prior to each coat. This is the method most are familiar with. It takes 2-4 days and provides the homeowner with a finish that is as close to perfection as possible! Our hardwood floor refinishing services are budget-friendly, without compromising on quality.
I Have a Few Really Deep Scratches, Do I Need Resurfacing or Refinishing?
We’ll walk you through the benefits of each service to make sure you choose the right fit your wants and needs. A deep scratch here and there may not be a bad thing. Some folks call it character, some turn it into a story, some simply don’t see the “value added” with the added expense of removing the deep scars. If you have pets or children, then removing ALL scratches may very well be a temporary thing. Maybe resurfacing is the right direction, maybe all you need to do is to protect your long-term investment. We’re always available to answer your questions and help you make the best decision for your needs, and we promise to not add any pressure.
Can You Fix Warping?

Our refinishing service can typically correct some warping in your floors. You can see examples of this in our before and after gallery. Give us a call today to discuss your project needs to see if we can fix your warping floorboards.

I Have Pet Stains On My Hardwood Floors, Can You Fix It?
Cleaning pet accidents when they are fresh is the key to maintaining your hardwood floors. If the cleaning method in the next section does not work, then it is likely that urine has soaked deep into your flooring and you will have to look into hardwood restoration. We are confident in our ability to conquer most pet stains, but contact us to determine the severity of your stain.
What Do I Use To Clean Deep Stains On My Hardwood Floors?
White vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water). To tackle small, everyday accidents, have a spray bottle at the ready. For larger stains, equip yourself with a bucket. Thoroughly scrub the stains, ensuring a comprehensive cleaning. Once you are confident it is clean, diligently wipe it dry to remove any moisture. Follow up with an additional round of drying to guarantee a completely dry surface. Beware of ammonia in cleaners; pet urine actually contains ammonia, and if your pet smells the ammonia where they last had an accident, they are more likely to want to relieve themselves in that same spot next time.
Is Your Process Really Dust Free?

Our process ensures minimal dust production, thanks to the utilization of equipment with mounted vacuums that effectively eliminate the majority of dust particles. As a result, the residual dust that may be present on the floor is extremely light. It is important to note that our process generates absolutely no airborne dust. The remaining dust on the floor is promptly vacuumed up, followed by a thorough surface cleaning using tack rags.

Is Your Process Odorless?
For resurfacing, we use only waterborne products that are “Greenguard” certified. The resulting smell is light and pleasant.
How Much Does it Cost to Resurface or Refinish Your Hardwood Floors?
The truth is, it depends on the size and scope of your specific job. For reference though, the typical resurfacing job starts at just $0.99 per sq/ft. To find out the cost of your specific job, just give us a call today.
